Pavle Orlović (Serbian Cyrillic: Павле Орловић, duke (војвода) of Novo Brdo, c. 1350 - June 28, 1389) was a Serbian knight who died in the Battle of Kosovo in 1389. Orlović was the son of Vuk Orle, duke of Soko grad on Drina. After the death of Stefan Uroš V, his fief was the mining town of Novo Brdo, on Kosovo and Metohija, as well as his father's fiefs on Mt. Rudnik in central Serbia. His direct descendants are the noble families of Martinović from Bajice near Cetinje in Montenegro, and Samardžić from Krivošije. Until the 17th century the noble families were also known as Martinović-Orlović and Samardžić-Orlović. The Martinović family are descendants of Bajo Orlović and the Samardžić family are descendants of Bajo's brother Savo.[1] There are many other descendants of Pavle Orlović, but without recognized status of nobility. The Serbian scientist Nikola Tesla is a non-noble descendant of Orlović.
Orlović family is now the oldest living Serbian noble house dating from Vuk Orle (13th century).[2]
Members of Serbian royal house of Obrenović are cadet branch of Martinović family.
Descedants of House of Orlović are royal families of Karađorđević through Princess Ljubica "Zorka" of Serbia, and House of Savoy through Queen Elena of Italy, daughters of Nicholas I of Montenegro, and Montenegrian Royal house of Petrović Njegoš through Martinović family.
